Trust & safety

Why your money is safe here

Online fundraising works on trust, and trust in Nigeria has been abused enough. These are the specific things KudiRaise does about it — not promises, mechanisms.

Funds are held, not forwarded instantly

Donations sit with KudiRaise rather than moving straight to the organiser. That is what makes it possible to pause a campaign and refund donors while a report is looked into.

Every payout is checked by a person

Withdrawals are not automatic. A person on the KudiRaise team reviews the request and the account details before any money is sent, and records the transfer reference against the campaign.

Medical and emergency campaigns get a human review

These categories carry the highest risk and the highest stakes, so a person reviews the supporting documents before the campaign is marked as fully verified.

Reports are investigated before money moves

Anyone can report a campaign, without an account and without proof. An upheld report pauses the campaign immediately, which stops donations and holds any money not yet paid out.

What each verification badge actually means

A badge on KudiRaise tells you what was checked, not just that something was.

Contact confirmed
The organiser confirmed their email address. Every live campaign has at least this.
ID verified
The KudiRaise team has reviewed who this organiser is.
Fully verified
Identity verified, plus supporting documents — hospital invoices, admission letters, police reports — reviewed by the KudiRaise team.

Before you donate

  • Read what the money is specifically for. A clear, costed breakdown is a good sign.
  • Check the verification badge and what it says was actually confirmed.
  • Look at whether the organiser has posted updates and receipts.
  • Be more careful with campaigns shared by strangers than ones shared by people you know.
  • Report anything that feels wrong. You do not need proof to raise a concern.

Something look wrong?

Report it. An upheld report pauses the campaign while we investigate, and you do not need proof to raise one — a suspicion is enough for us to look.

If you donated to a campaign that turns out to be fraudulent, tell us and we will refund you.
